President of the Board at Polish-based Personnel Service S.A. Krzysztof Inglot says Poland plans to arrange charter flights for Ukrainian seasonal workers despite quarantine to overcome an acute shortage of labor force.

"We'd like to bring in the first group of 200 people from Ukraine to factories in Wrocław," he told the Polish public broadcaster TVP, as reported by the Ukrainian TSN TV news service on April 27.

According to Inglot, Poland is suffering from a lack of labor force in the agriculture sector. Farmers are facing loss of a part of this season's crops if no measures are taken to fill the gaps in harvesting jobs that have emerged since the introduction of border lockdowns.

German farmers have already brought seasonal workers from Romania. At the same time, Polish farmers complain they will soon need to harvest asparagus and strawberries, while admitting labor shortage issues.

As reported earlier, Finland is also struggling with labor force shortage. The recent charter flight from Ukraine brought 200 seasonal workers to the country, but this isn't enough to cover demand for seasonal jobs.
