The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the country's parliament, adopted a bill abolishing payment of a single social contribution (SSC) for self-employed persons.

Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Yevhen Petruniak says the law improves current tax standards and prevents double payment of SSC by individual entrepreneurs, who are at the same time registered as self-employed persons, an UNIAN correspondent reports.

"The draft has been developed with the aim of improving legislation regarding the SSC accrual from persons engaged in independent professional activities, eliminating manifestations of discrimination of payers, and ceasing unjust payments of SSC by self-employed persons if they have not received income from their activities, as well as penalties for non-payment," said Petruniak.
