The third wave of the coronavirus pandemic and the crop quality are expected to trigger the price hikes.
Experts say Ukrainians this spring may face another increase in prices of foodstuffs, namely flour, bread, sunflower oil, and the borsch set, which includes onions, beets, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, and potatoes.
Member of the Economic Discussion Club, Oleh Pendzin, believes that eggs will also continue to rise in price, especially on the eve of Easter, the online newspaper Segodnya wrote on March 8.
"Taking into account the logistics and trade margin, an egg can no longer cost below UAH 3.5 [US$0.13]. The spring price hikes for vegetables and fruit are also starting. They will cost less than a year ago, but more than in January," he said.
