Ukrainian exports bounce back to pre-crisis levels – trade envoy

The third quarter is seen as the period of trade recovery.

Ukraine's Deputy Minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture and Trade Envoy Taras Kachka says exports of Ukrainian products have bounced back to pre-crisis levels.

"Exports have returned to pre-crisis levels. The morning brings optimistic and glad numbers. Exports in September stood at US$4.19 billion, which was 2.87% up against September last year," he wrote on Facebook on October 1.

"In general, the third quarter was the quarter of trade recovery as exports for the three previous months totaled US$12.14 billion, which was 13.66% up from the second quarter," he added.

Trade developments: Background

  • The deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods in January-June 2020 (H1) was estimated at US$1.277 billion, which was 66.7% down year-over-year, according to the State Statistics Service.
  • Exports of goods from Ukraine for six months shrank by 6.4%, to US$22.913 billion, while imports dropped by 14.3%, to US$24.189 billion.
