Ukraine may create virtual economic zone

First Deputy Head of the Servant of the People faction Oleksandr Kornienko says Ukraine is developing legislation to create a virtual economic zone, which should attract more IT businesses to the country.

"Drafting of legislation related to the so-called Diia City [a virtual digital country with no limits for new investments, jobs and cutting edge technological development] is under way. It's like a virtual economic zone, which will attract even more IT businesses to Ukraine and make our country even more competitive in this regard," he said at a meeting of the Conciliation Council in Parliament on August 31, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

"The virtual economic zone will attract even more IT business to Ukraine," Kornienko said.

• On August 3, 2020, it became known that Ukraine's Digital Transformation Ministry was developing a single online platform "VzayemoDiia" for interaction between executive authorities and civil society institutions. The aim is to introduce online tools for interaction between citizens and government.
• On July 23, 2020, the ministry said it was working on the introduction of financial monitoring of virtual assets, which will be required if the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, legalizes such assets.
