Ukraine harvests over 1.1 million tonnes of grains

Some 245,000 tonnes of new crop's wheat has been harvested so far, which is 1.7% of the target.

As of July 3, Ukrainian farmers collected more than 1.1 million tonnes of grains of the 2020 harvest, the press service of the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture reports.

"In total, 1.129 million tonnes of grains has already been threshed from an area of ​​419,400 hectares (2.8% of the target).

"Some 1.039 million tonnes was harvested over the past week," the statement said.

In terms of individual crops, Ukraine has already harvested: 245,000 tonnes of wheat (1.7% of the target), 884,000 tonnes of barley (12.5% ​​of the target), and 47,000 tonnes of peas (10.3% of the target).

Also, farmers have begun to collect industrial crops, including 129,000 tonnes of rapeseed.

It is noted that the farmers have so far begun to harvest grain and leguminous crops in six regions – Kherson, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhia, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ministry of Economy predicts the harvest of grains and legumes in 2020 at 68 million tonnes, and oilseeds – at 20 million tonnes.
