Ukraine not to resume air travel from May 22 – infrastructure minister

Kryklii reiterated other countries had closed borders for foreign citizens.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UAA1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kryklii has said Ukraine will not resume international air travel from May 22, urging passengers to refrain from purchasing tickets for flights that a number of air carriers are already selling for the said period.

"I understand these are affordable, attractive prices, but later, in the future, they will, in the best case, could be exchanged for vouchers, while in fact no one will be able to fly," he said, according to Hromadske.

Kryklii recalled that other countries had closed their borders to foreign citizens.

"You arrive and at the border they tell you to 'go home.' That's it, the ticket's been wasted. I don't get the drive about the purchase of these tickets. It's irrelevant now," the minister said.

The minister recommended that passengers wait for official statements regarding the restoration of international air travel.

"The most important thing is when these international flights will be reopened, and only after should you be buying tickets," he added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reacted to intentions earlier announced by a number of air carriers to resume flights from Ukraine in late May or June. The ministry believes such statements are misleading since any resumption of regular air traffic between Ukraine and other countries is off the table at the moment.
