Ukraine's Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture says the Cabinet of Ministers has started developing the 2030 National Economic Strategy initiated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

"Ukraine must immediately move away from the development model where competitive advantages are based on the use of natural resources and cheap labor," the ministry quoted Minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture Ihor Petrashko as saying at a founding meeting of a working group on the 2030 National Economic Strategy held on September 7.
"Instead, we must build an innovative model that prioritizes the development and trade in products with higher added value, a high level of technological production, a skilled and highly paid workforce, energy and other natural resource savings, as well as an innovative management style. This is the development path our strategy should be aimed at," he added.
National Economic Strategy 2030 in brief
The work on the strategy will start with the definition of specific economic indicators the country will have to achieve. The main vectors for Ukraine's development include incentives for industry, agriculture, extractive industry, the IT sector, infrastructure, domestic transportation, power-generating sector, and the creation of transport corridors.

Changes in approaches to public administration, the quality of economic growth, employment policy, as well as healthcare and education sectors should become accelerators of the transition to an innovative model.
"A total of 20 working groups with the involvement of professionals from the government, ministries, think tanks, institutes, international organizations, businesses and business associations will be set up for the successful development of the strategy on the Economic Recovery Center platform," the ministry said.
President Zelensky signed decree No. 722/2019 "On Ukraine's sustainable development until 2030" on September 30, 2019. The document was published on the presidential website almost a year ago.
