Ukraine's grain, legumes reserves down by 9%, to over 4 mln tonnes as of June 1

Reserves of grain and legumes in Ukrainian warehouses as of June 1, 2020, stood at 4.05 million tonnes, which was 9% down from the figure as of June 1, 2019.

In particular, wheat reserves shrank by 5.6% to 1.37 million tonnes over the period under review, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

Maize reserves declined by 14% from June 1, 2019, to 1.96 million tonnes, the reports said.

At the same time, reserves of barley and rye grew by 18.6% and 22.3%, to 499,000 tonnes, and 21,500 tonnes, respectively.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian farmers in 2019 harvested 75 million tonnes of grain, of which 54 million tonnes will be supplied onto foreign markets, according to the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture.

The ministry also predicts that grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine this year might exceed 68 million tonnes.
