Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kryklii has explained why Ukraine has not yet resumed regular flights to Poland and Italy.

"Even during the quarantine we carried out special flights for labor migrants. These are Poland, Finland, and Germany. So far, self-isolation is a condition in all these countries. They did not impose additional restrictions except these rules," he said at a morning TV show "Snidanok z 1+1" on June 15.

"We have not yet resumed flights to Poland that were declared. But I have no doubt that there will be regular flights in the near future. So far, the Poles have restrained opportunities for tourism, but if we are talking about labor migration, they accept workers. The only requirement is the availability of an insurance policy and observation," Kryklii said.

The minister also said the government was in touch with Italy to resume flights, but so far, there were no relevant applications.

"We keep in touch with Italy and the Foreign Ministry, but there have been no applications [for relaunching flights] yet. Moreover, you remember their statements that they wanted to resume air traffic at the beginning of next year, and then rescheduled for the end of the year. But so far there are no such statements," he added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on reopening border checkpoints at the country's international airports from June 15.

According to the document, checkpoints and control points will resume servicing international flights with new criteria introduced for foreigners crossing the border.

Foreigners who are not citizens of countries with a significant spread of COVID-19 and have not been to such countries for the past 14 days will be let in Ukraine.

Ukrainian citizens from June 15 will be able to travel to Albania and the United States (without restrictions at the border), the United Kingdom (subject to a 14-day quarantine upon arrival), Turkey (without restrictions at the border, but with testing upon arrival, and Tunisia (from June 27, with testing upon arrival).

Moreover, after the epidemic situation in Ukraine stabilizes, the government will consider the relaunch of air travel with Cyprus, Montenegro, Georgia, and Greece starting from July 1.
