Lawmakers vote down resolutions seeking cancellation of voting results on bill on banking regulation

The parliament passed the finalized bill on banking regulation on May 13.

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, voted down two draft resolutions seeking the cancellation of voting results on the bill on banking regulation earlier passed in the second reading and as a whole.

Resolution No. 2571-d-p was backed by 78 MPs with the required minimum of 226 votes.

Resolution No. 2571-d-p1, which also provides for the cancellation of the Verkhovna Rada's vote results on the bill on banking regulation, was supported by 84 MPs.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the bill amending some legislative acts of Ukraine on improving certain banking regulation mechanisms (No. 2571-d) passed its first reading on March 30. A number of lawmakers and experts called the bill unconstitutional and claimed it was at variance with many existing laws.

In total, 16,586 amendments were submitted to the second reading of the bill.

On April 30, the Verkhovna Rada decided to apply a special procedure for the consideration of draft laws in the second reading, provided for in Article 119-1 of the law on the Rules of the Verkhovna Rada, when considering bill No. 2571-d.

On May 13, the parliament passed the finalized draft law on banking regulation.
