The State Statistics Service of Ukraine has listed foodstuffs that have jumped in prices the most since the beginning of 2020.

"The price of apples is the highest now as it doubled this year. The runner-up is carrots since their price also almost doubled," the Ukrainian TSN TV news service reported on July 22, referring to the stats.

At the same time, prices of onions, cabbage, and buckwheat rose by a third.

"Potatoes have also gone up in price significantly this year," the publication added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, this season's harvest would be lower than in previous years due to unfavorable weather conditions and the economic situation caused by quarantine-related restrictions.

In early July 2020, experts said there might be no Belarusian vegetables on the Ukrainian market in 2020. Therefore, it will be impossible to bring down the price of potatoes. Belarusian garlic and onions will not be available on the Ukrainian market as well.

The price of the borsch set, which includes onions, beets, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, and potatoes, is expected to rise at least by 1.5 times.
