Head of Commercial Department at the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine (SFGCU) Bohdan Kostetskyi says the corporation in 2020 will increase the number of silos to receive more grain from farmers who participate in the country's forward grain procurement program.

"Already this year, the corporation has been increasing the number of SFGCU's branches for the needs of grain producers to 49, which will be accepting applications for registration of contracts. It also significantly increases the number of silos that accept grain under the program," the SFGCU's press service quoted Kostetskyi as saying.

The official added that newly appointed SFGCU management preached zero tolerance toward any corruption manifestations.

"It's unacceptable even to suggest that individuals try to extort money from farmers for any shady services," he said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the SFGCU in February launched its forward grain procurement program for 2020 to purchase up to 200,000 tonnes of grains from Ukrainian farmers. Later, the corporation announced plans to acquire additional 150,000 to 200,000 tonnes of cereals.

UNIAN memo. The State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine is a vertically integrated company performing a complete cycle of operations with cereals and processed products, ranging from production to exports. The SFGCU has 55 branches in 20 Ukrainian regions, with a total capacity of 3.75 million tonnes of crops.

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers on April 29, 2020, appointed Vasyl Kovalenko Acting Chairman of the SFGCU Board.
