Ukrainian farmers export over 52 mln tonnes of grain since July 1

Ukrainian agribusinesses continue shipping grain abroad amid quarantine over the COVID-19 coronavirus, having exported 52.4 million tonnes of grain from July 1, 2019, the start of the 2019-2020 marketing year (MY), which is 97% of the forecast export.

In particular, Ukraine exported 19.68 million tonnes of wheat, almost 4.8 million tonnes of barley, 27.3 million tonnes of maize, and 8,200 tonnes of rye, the Ukrainian Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Ministry's press service said.

Over the period under review, agrarians also shipped 306,300 tonnes of flour from wheat and other types of grain to foreign customers, which was 50,400 tonnes up against the relevant period of MY 2018-2019.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian farmers in 2019 harvested 75 million tonnes of grain, of which 54 million tonnes will be supplied onto foreign markets, according to the ministry.

Earlier, Ukraine approved the ceiling for wheat exports in 2019-2020 MY at the level of 20.2 million tonnes.
