Ukraine's hryvnia strengthens for third day in a row

The official hryvnia gained one kopiyka in value.

The hryvnia, Ukraine's national currency, has strengthened for the third day in a row as the country's national bank set the official forex rate for Friday, May 15, at UAH 26.68 per U.S. dollar.

The official forex rate of the hryvnia against the euro for Friday was fixed at UAH 28.79 per euro, that is, the hryvnia got stronger by 24 kopiykas against the euro compared to the previous day, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) said.

Quotations of the hryvnia on the Ukrainian interbank forex market were set at UAH 26.67/26.69 per U.S. dollar and UAH 28.76/28.78 per euro at the close of trading.

The U.S. dollar in Kyiv's currency exchange booths on the morning of Thursday, May 14, weakened by nine kopiykas, to UAH 26.90 per dollar, while the euro lost seven kopiykas in value, being traded for UAH 29.13 per euro.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the official forex rate of the hryvnia against the U.S. dollar on Thursday, May 14, was set at UAH 26.69 per U.S. dollar, as the hryvnia strengthened against the dollar for the second day in a row – by 11 kopiykas on that day.
