Poland issues half of agreed road haulage permits to Ukraine

The Polish side will transfer the remaining 2,500 permits by December 15 this year.

Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kryklii says the Republic of Poland has allocated additional 2,500 road haulage permits to Ukraine in 2020, including 1,500 universal ones and 1,000 for transit road freight.

The minister added that the registration of permits would start simultaneously at such points in the cities of Kovel, Lviv, Boryspil, Korosten, Khmelnytsky, Vinnytsia, and Uzhgorod.

The Polish side will transfer the remaining 2,500 permits by December 15 this year.

The quota for additional permits is valid until January 31, 2021.

Background

  • On November 20, 2020, Kryklii announced that Poland would additionally provide Ukrainian road carriers with 5,000 road haulage permits valid until the end of January 2021.
  • Earlier, businesses urged Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers to intensify the dialogue with the Polish government to increase the number of road haulage permits for Ukrainian carriers in 2021 by at least 40,000 permits, to 200,000 permits from 160,000 in 2020.
  • The minister says the quota of Polish road haulage permits should be at least 200,000 per year.
