Sales of new passenger cars in Ukraine 30% up in Jan-April

Sales of new passenger cars in Ukraine grew by 30% in January-April 2021 year-over-year (y-o-y), to 31,100 vehicles.

In April alone, sales of such vehicles almost tripled, to 10,000 units, the Ukrautoprom association's press service said on May 1.

The April sales rose by 11% from March, the press service added.

Toyota was the most popular brand in Ukraine with 1,618 new cars sold and registered in April 2021 (4 times up y-o-y).

Renault was second with 1,215 vehicles sold in the fourth month of 2021, which was 58% up from April 2020.

The KIA brand was third, having boosted its sales in Ukraine by over three-fold y-o-y, to 830 cars.

Skoda cars ranked fourth as they were assigned 616 Ukrainian license plates in April, which was 3 times up y-o-y.

The Volkswagen brand ranked fifth with 482 cars sold over the month (9 times up y-o-y).

The KIA Sportage car became the month's bestseller with 640 vehicles sold.

Background

Sales of new passenger cars in Ukraine shrank by 3% in 2020 against 2019, to 85,500 vehicles.

Renault was the most popular brand in the country's new passenger car market last year.
