Ukraine's Ukroboronprom to repair three transport aircraft for Sri Lanka

The repairs will be handled by SE Plant 410 Civil Aviation and SE Antonov.

Enterprises that are part of state-run consortium Ukroboronprom will repair three An-32B transport aircraft of the Air Force of Sri Lanka.

"The planes arrived in Ukraine on August 11," Director General of State Enterprise (SE) Plant 410 Civil Aviation Oleksandr Pashchenko said in a statement on Ukroboronprom's website.

In particular, the repairs will be handled by SE Plant 410 Civil Aviation and SE Antonov.

The aircraft repairs contract was signed by Ukraine's state self-supporting foreign trade and investments firm Ukrinmash, which is a subsidiary of Ukrspecexport, and the Ministry of Defense of Sri Lanka.

It provides for overhaul and service life extension for three An-32B aircraft. All repairs will last 12 months and will be carried out at Plant 410 Civil Aviation.

"Also, Ukrainian specialists provided technical assistance to the Air Force of Sri Lanka in preparing the aircraft for a technical flight to Ukraine," Ukroboronprom said.

UNIAN memo. The An-32 is a multipurpose aircraft, developed by the Antonov Design Bureau; it is designed for the transportation of goods on short- and medium-haul routes. The aircraft can be used in hot climates.

State-owned consortium Ukroboronprom was established in 2010 to ensure the effective functioning and management of state-run economic entities engaged in R&D, manufacture, sale, repairing, modernization, and disposal of weapons, military and special equipment and ammunition, as well as participating in military and technical cooperation. Ukroboronprom incorporates about 140 enterprises of Ukraine's defense industry.
