The Ukrainian national railways company PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia transported 48,100 passengers by commuter trains on June 1, the first day when the service was relaunched.

The agency urges passengers to abide by the Health Ministry's quarantine-related recommendations while traveling by rail since only a conscious attitude and strict observance of the rules guarantee the safety of their travel, according to Ukrzaliznytsia's press service.

It is worth noting while traveling by rail, passengers must wear face masks at the stations, platforms and inside trains. They are also required to use hand sanitizers, observe 1.5-meter social distancing rules, and they must stay at home if they have symptoms of acute respiratory illness.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on June 1, Ukrzaliznytsia announced the first stage to relaunch commuter trains. Some 439 trains were put into operation.

More commuter train routes will be added if this is decided by the regional state administrations' commissions on technology-related and environmental safety and emergency situations.
