Upcoming lockdown: Rules for public transport, explained

The government of Ukraine on its extraordinary meeting on Wednesday decided that public transport will continue uninterrupted operations during lockdown that is set to be introduced across the country from January 8 to January 24, 2021.

That's according to Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kryklii, who went on Telegram to comment on the decision made by the Cabinet.

"[Public] transport will not be put to a halt pending additional quarantine restrictions in January 2021," the minister wrote.

Operators of buses, trolleybuses, trams, trains will be obliged to carry passengers within seated capacity.

"This applies to urban, suburban, intercity, intraregional, and interregional passenger traffic," said Kryklii.

Domestic air transportation, the minister added, will go on without restrictions.

"When traveling abroad, check for updates on entry-exit conditions established for Ukrainian citizens at you destination," the minister urged citizens.

As for subway services, the minister says no "seating capacity only" restriction will be applied to metro.

Also, Kryklii says postal operators will continue their work as usual, without changes.
