Subsidies up 2.5 times during heating season – Social Policy Ministry

Ukraine's Social Policy Ministry says the amount of social subsidies has increased 2.5 times since the start of the heating season in the country.

"In October, such benefits received almost 3 million Ukrainian families. The largest amount of subsidy was recorded in [the city of] Kyiv, that is over UAH 950 [US$33.50]," the ministry told the Ukrainian TSN TV news service on November 23.

Background

Earlier, the Finance Ministry announced that over 5 million Ukrainian families would receive subsidies the following year.

The agency noted the funds would be allocated to the most vulnerable groups.

At the same time, the cost of subsidies and the number of applicants have been reduced due to the recent growth in minimum wage.
