Average wage in Ukraine in Nov grows by 12.2% y-o-y, to US$424

The average nominal wage of a full-time employee in Ukraine shrank by 1.5% in November 2020 against October 2020, while growing by 12.2% year-over-year (y-o-y), to UAH 11,987, or US$424.

Real wages in Ukraine in November 2020 decreased by 2.8% from October 2020, whereas they rose by 8.1% y-o-y, the State Statistics Service reported.

The lowest average wage nationwide was recorded in Chernihiv region, that is UAH 9,615 (US$340), while the highest one, namely UAH 12,781 (US$452), in Donetsk region.

The average pay in the city of Kyiv in November 2020 was UAH 17,582 (US$622), the report said.

Increase in minimum wages

  • The minimum wage in Ukraine from January 1, 2020, increased by UAH 550 (US$19.46), to UAH 4,723 (US$167) per month, or UAH 28.31 (US$1.00) per hour.
  • On August 25, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, passed bill No. 3963 initiated by President Volodymyr Zelensky to increase the minimum wage to UAH 5,000 (US$176.93) from September 1, 2020.
  • The average nominal wage of a full-time employee in August 2020 grew by 8.6% y-o-y, to UAH 11,446, or US$405.
