Russian court to sentence Ukrainian journalist Sushchenko to 20 years in prison – lawyer

"Tomorrow, Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko's wife and daughter will arrive to visit him on the eve of 'trial', where the court is going to sentence him to 20 years' imprisonment for 'collecting information about the alleged Russia's invasion of Ukraine' in the summer and autumn of 2016, according to investigators," Feygin said.

Sushchenko was officially charged with espionage.

September 25, 2017, Moscow's Lefortovo district court extended the arrest of the Ukrainian journalist until November 30.

On October 21, Feygin said that the investigation into the Sushchenko case had been completed.

"We have read two volumes [of the case] out of ten. According to the FSB, Roman collected information about a Russian military incursion into Ukraine," the lawyer said.

On November 10, the Moscow court found it legitimate to extend the arrest of Suschenko until November 30.
