Germany has called on all parties in the Ukraine conflict to immediately observe the ceasefire in the Donbas in accordance with the Minsk agreements reached in September 2014.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel made the call for a ceasefire while giving a speech in Budapest during her meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Monday, according to the BBC. She also said Germany would not supply weapons to Ukraine.
"The conflict in eastern Ukraine can’t be resolved by military means. Germany will not supply weapons to Ukraine," Merkel said.
In addition, Merkel and Orban said they supported the establishment of a free trade area between the EU and the Eurasian Economic Union.
The latest round of talks on the Ukraine conflict in Minsk collapsed on Saturday when representatives of the militant organizations that have seized control of some parts of eastern Ukraine refused to negotiate a ceasefire, and instead insisted on the revision of the terms of agreements reached previously.
