As reported earlier, the leaders of the “Normandy Four” counties – Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France, agreed to meet on Wednesday in Minsk once preparations for the meeting are complete.

The Tripartite Contact Group, consisting of representatives from Ukraine, Russia, the OSCE and the DPR and LPR militant organizations, are supposed to do the groundwork for the leaders’ summit.

"The main subject of discussion of the Normandy Four leaders will be the withdrawal of heavy weapons, the establishment of a demilitarized zone and the beginning of a permanent dialogue between Kyiv and the Donbas," the diplomatic source said.

According to the source, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President François Hollande brought these proposals for the basis of the talks when they visited Moscow on Friday, February 6.
