The deployment of a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine was on the agenda of a recent 'Normandy Four' meeting, according to Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Presidential Administration Valeriy Chaly, Ukrainian newspaper Ukrainska Pravda reported.
"Ukraine has no clearly defined mechanisms to guarantee the fulfilment of the Minsk agreements," he said, adding that neither rebels nor Russia can now be forced to implement them.
"Therefore it is a logical request. This issue was discussed at a 'Normandy Four' meeting," Chaly said.
A decision to appeal to the UN Security Council for the deployment of foreign peacekeeping forces in Ukraine should be approved by the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, he added.
