Consultations regarding amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine should be held with the representatives of legally elected governments of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Hroisman said on Tuesday.
"In my opinion, the legally elected government in the temporarily occupied territories are those who were elected following the elections in 2010 – that’s a legally elected government of the Donbas," Hroisman said.
He said there was a need to hold consultations with the leadership of these areas.
"It is very important that this process be discussed with everyone, so that all understand the nature of these changes," Hroisman said.
Asked about an invitation to him from the leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic to visit the occupied territories, Hroisman said: "After the local elections, I will accept an invitation from the legitimate authorities and will be glad to visit any settlement in Donbas, because the Donbas is Ukraine."
