NBU keeps hryvnia exchange rate at yesterday's level of UAH 21.55 to dollar

The national Ukrainian currency, the hryvnia, on Thursday maintained yesterday’s level of UAH 21.55 to the dollar, as news of coming IMF funding dispelled some of the economic gloom in Ukraine.

As of 1430 the central bank set the following official exchange rates of the hryvnia against leading foreign currencies:

$100 – UAH 2,155.3929 (as of 1400 on March 11 it was UAH 2,155.2936);

EUR 100 – UAH 2,279.9746 (as of 1400 on March 11 it was UAH 2,314.3543);

10 Russian rubles – UAH 3.4387 (as of 1400 on March 11 it was UAH 3.5528).

As UNIAN reported earlier, on March 11, as it was expected in the Ukrainian government, the IMF agreed a medium-term program of financial assistance for Ukraine, designed for four years, under the Enhanced Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and worth a total of $17.5 billion.

The first tranche, which will be provided to Ukraine, will total $5 billion, $2.7 billion of which Ukraine will spend to support the country's budget.

It is expected that the IMF funds will help to strengthen the hryvnia exchange rate.
