Poroshenko says ceasefire not working, calls for new Russia sanctions (Video)

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said in an interview with German newspaper Bild that the current ceasefire agreement signed in Minsk this February is "not working" and urged the West to impose more sanctions on Russia, adding that the current ceasefire has been broken 1,100 times by the Russian-backed militants.

Ukrainian military spokesman Andriy Lysenko said on Saturday that Russian military were building up military equipment near the Ukrainian border, Ukraine Today reports. 

The extension of sanctions on Russia’s finance, energy, and defense sectors is to be discussed on Thursday by EU leaders. Many European leaders support only the idea of easing sanctions if Russia abides by the Minsk-2 agreements, and not imposing new sanctions if it fails to, according to news agency Reuters.
