Preliminary agreements on the exchange were announced by the Ukrainian President's Office.
U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker says he hopes that Russia will agree to a swap of prisoners of war (POW) with Ukraine.
"I sincerely hope Moscow agrees to this prisoner exchange. It would be an important step to build confidence and reunite prisoners with their families," he tweeted late on Tuesday, July 16.

"If successful, it will be the result of direct engagement between Presidents Zelenskyy and Putin," he added.
Earlier, deputy head of the Ukrainian President's Office Vadym Prystaiko announced preliminary agreements with Russia on the exchange of prisoners of war.
