All social payments to citizens of the occupied territories in the east of Ukraine will be resumed after Ukraine’s government regains control there, despite there being a court ruling about illegality of a cabinet decision to suspend social payments in those areas.
This was reported by the First Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine Natalia Sevostianova at a government briefing in Kyiv on Friday.
Sevostianova said the government's position on this issue was “unequivocal.”
Earlier, the Kyiv Appeal Administrative Court ruled invalid a decision by the Cabinet of Ministers to make social payments only in the parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions that are controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.
Sevostianova said there have been tragic consequences for employees of the treasurer’s office and banks when attempting to deliver the funds to the occupied territories.
"With regard to the treasurer’s office and financial institutions delivering funds to those areas - currently it’s impossible, and I would like to see those judges who make rulings of this kind under the present circumstances," Sevostianova added.
