Shenderovich: Putin has to live until his trial in Hague

The opponents of Russian President Vladimir Putin should not expect things to change for the better in the event of his death in Russia, Viktor Shenderovich, a Russian writer, said in an interview with Ukrainian news Web site Apostrophe on Monday.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UAA1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"They say that Putin’s state of health is quite good. He recently disappeared for a while. Facebook and the Internet were full of some strange hopes that something had happened to him. That characterizes us and our state rather badly," he said.

According to Shenderovich, it’s not worth hoping things will change for the better in Russia if Putin dies.

"I would really want Putin to live until his trial, because otherwise it would mean that we would again fail to learn a lesson," he said.

"Something will happen again, another leader of the nation will come. There will be no conclusions, everyone will say and know something about him, and once again we will be a country of unlearned lessons," Shenderovich said.

"Of course, I want us to make the conclusions, including legal conclusions, I trust in this very much. But I do not think it will happen soon. However, no one can know this. But it is definitely a fact that everyone can greatly help the future process in The Hague," he said.

Shenderovich earlier said that Russia would continue to die under the regime of Vladimir Putin, as it was being driven to decay.
