Ukraine Today spoke to Arne Lietz, Member of the European Parliament, and a member of Germany’s Social Democrat Party, to get an insight on how Russia’s massive media campaign worldwide has tilted public sentiments in Germany, and what measures need to be taken by EU authorities to prevent Russian propaganda from disintegrating European unity.
As one of the closest economic partners with Russia, and one of the most influential European powers, Germany has been targeted by Russian propaganda tycoons in order to polish up Moscow’s image and gain support for its actions in Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is also said to be weakening European unity by influencing Eurosceptic parties directly or indirectly.
