Eighteen alleged members of Al-Qaeda have been arrested in Italy in connection with a bomb attack in a Pakistani market that killed more than 100 people, Italian prosecutor Mauro Mura has said at a news conference in Cagliari, Sardinia.
The suspects had also planned an attack against the Vatican in 2010 that was never carried out, Mura said.
Two of the detainees were directly involved in providing security for the late Al-Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden, according to Mura.
