The chairman of the parliamentary working group on investigating abuses in the government, MP Boryslav Bereza, has said he will appeal to the president and the prime minister regarding the failure of representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office and the government to turn up for the group’s meetings.
Bereza told this to journalists on Friday in parliament after a meeting of the working group.
The group’s chairman noted that quite a large number of representatives of ministries and departments supposed to be present at the meetings simply ignore them.
"If they refuse to attend, we will appeal to the Prosecutor General, and will open criminal proceedings under the article related to blocking the activities of committees and people’s deputies," according to Bereza.
He also added that the representatives of the working group have addressed the President of Ukraine to "influence" the attendance of representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office, who should also be present at the meetings of the working group.
It was noted that the previous meeting fell through because of the non-attendance of the representatives of the Finance Ministry and the National Bank of Ukraine, and today’s meeting was attended by the representatives of the National Bank, but there were no representatives from the Finance Ministry and Prosecutor General’s Office.
In turn, MP from the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko Dmytro Dobrodomov pointed to the necessity to adopt next week a law on temporary investigation commissions.
The next meeting of the working group will be held on Tuesday, 12 May.
