Ukraine is expecting to get a visa-free regime with the European Union from January 1, 2016, a diplomatic source has told Ukrainian online newspaper Apostrof.
According to the source, the Ukrainian side is insisting on this date before the Eastern Partnership summit in Riga, which will be held on May 21-22.
However, according to the publication, the date of the visa-free regime for Ukraine may not be mentioned in the final declaration on the results of the Riga Summit. Negotiations are underway.
Special Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba in his commentary to the publication did not mention specific dates on the possible visa-free regime, but noted that this could be expected in early 2016.
