Yatsenyuk: Ukraine to drop CIS criminal search database on August 24

Ukraine will denounce a treaty on exchange of information on criminal activities in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on August 24, proceeding to use direct channels synchronized with the Interpol database, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said during the presentation of a new biometric data control system at Kyiv’s Boryspil International Airport.

"On August 24, Ukraine will drop the CIS criminal search database, because Moscow does not fulfill our procedural orders, and our accession to the Interpol databases means that we have now become part of a unified system of criminal search," he said.

According to Yatsenyuk, joining the Interpol database was one of the basic conditions for our cooperation with the European partners and one of the conditions for a visa-free regime.
