UNESCO should play a more active role in monitoring situation in Crimea - Ukraine diplomat

Ukraine Today gets an exclusive interview with Oleh Shamshur, Ambassador of Ukraine to France and Permanent Representative of Ukraine to UNESCO, to talk about Ukraine-UNESCO and Ukraine-France relations.

"Since 1991, and even before, Ukraine has been an important and active member of this organization (UNESCO), we would like to continue (our cooperation), although, of course, now we are centered mostly on the problems generated by the war," said Shamshur, Ukraine Today reports.

"We would like tolenhance the role of UNESCO, at least, in monitoring the situation on the Crimean peninsula," according to the diplomat.

"If it [the world] tolerates this [Russia’s] behavior, we create the grounds, the foundation for even more important violations in future, which can pose even a greater threat to the world order".
