UN to start assessment mission in Ukraine Jan 23

A UN mission tasked to assess stabilization in Donbas will start its work on January 23, says a report published on the website of the Ukrainian Permanent Mission to the UN on Tuesday.

"In the context of an enhanced role of the United Nations in the Donbas stabilization, a UN assessment mission will start working in Ukraine on January 23, 2016, at the request of the Ukrainian side," a statement reads.

The mission will include representatives of the UN Development Programme, the UNICEF and the UN Mine Action Service, according to the report.
