Cooperation with Russian regions will help overcome sanctions: Crimea's de facto head Aksyonov

Russian-occupied Crimea's de facto head Sergey Aksyonov sees "close cooperation" with the Russian regions as a way to overcome the sanctions.

"Russian regions, helping each other, will benefit the whole country. Close cooperation is how one can overcome the sanctions regime," Aksyonov said at a meeting with a delegation of Vladimir region of the Russian Federation, Krym.Realii reported.

Following Russia's annexation of Crimea, the Nizhnegorsky district of the peninsula is under the "patronage" of Vladimir region.

As UNIAN reported earlier, according to a decree issued by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the "Crimean Federal District" has been abolished as an independent unit. It is now part of the Southern Federal District of the Russian Federation.

Russia created the "Crimean Federal District" after it annexed Crimea in March 2014.
