Mikhail Gorbachev, the first and last president of the USSR, has said that a new Union state is possible, according to Russian news agency TASS.
"The Soviet Union cannot be restored. But a new Union can be established," he said in an interview with TASS.

Earlier, Gorbachev said that the world had come to a dangerous point. He also called a mistake the termination of a dialogue between the U.S. and Russia.
