PACE refuses to hold debate on Russian delegation's return

Chair of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, President of the Committee for Culture and Media Volodymyr Ariev has said the Standing Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) refused to hold a debate on the return of the delegation of the Russian Federation to the Assembly's session hall.

"The PACE Standing Committee has just refused to hold a debate on the return of the Russian Federation to PACE. Instead, there will be a debate on the topic 'Democracy Hacked. How to Respond?' I am glad that PACE has correctly set priorities," Ariev wrote on Facebook.

Russia did not renew its credentials before the PACE 2016 winter session and put forth conditions for its return, insisting on the full restoration of its delegates' voting rights.
