Though his salary makes 6.5 thousand hryvnias
Defense Minister of Ukraine Yuri Yekhanurov claims that his salary in April made up 6.5 thousand hryvnias.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, he said this to journalists in the Cabinet of Ministers on Thursday.
“I had a salary around 15 thousand hryvnias. In due time, I refused different bonuses, as a result of which my salary trimmed to 10 thousand. Now, after all the talks [the government’s decision to cut twice the ministers salary - UNIAN] – it makes nearly 6.5 thousand hryvnias”, Yuri Yekhanurov.
The Minister specified that since January 1, 2009, he also refused daily payments during domestic and foreign trips.
Yuri Yekhanurov stressed that he does not envy lawmakers and other officials, whose salary is higher. “Many envy, me not. I believe that every person should think about himself”, the Defense Minister noted.
