Acid was splashed into the face of Dmytro Basaraban, secretary of the Socialist Party of Ukraine Lviv Oblast Committee and aide to lawmaker Yaroslav Mendus.
According to the SPU press-office, referring to top deputy secretary of the SPU Lviv Oblast Committee Yevhen Talipov, the assault was committed by an unknown offender of around 30 years old, on 28 February in Lviv.
The victim is now in the Lviv Emergency Hospital. His state of health is assessed as grave.
According to Ye.Talipov, the SPU Oblast Committee will keep the investigation under its supervision.
