Prison officials have failed to fulfill any of the demands made by Yulia Tymoshenko on January 8, says the ex-premier’s daughter, Eugenia Tymoshenko, according to an Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.
"I visited my mother again. She is still in the shower room, lying all the time on the metal bed. Unfortunately, there has been no movement towards meeting her demands," Eugenia Tymoshenko said.
The ex-premier’s daughter said Yulia Tymoshenko’s health hasn’t improved. "My mother suffers from severe back pain. Her health remains critical. We’re waiting for the German doctors to arrive," she added.
Eugenia Tymoshenko also said the government is increasing pressure on political prisoners. "This regime will stop at nothing. After the statement by the influential European politician Elmar Brok about possible sanctions against those responsible for political repression in Ukraine, prison officials recently rushed Yuriy Lutsenko from the hospital and against doctor’s recommendations stopped his rehabilitation," said Yulia Tymoshenko’s daughter.
"The regime is treating political prisoners worse and worse. Before the next presidential elections they plan to totally clear the political arena of any alternative opinions and any alternative politicians," she said.
On January 8, Yulia Tymoshenko announced a campaign of civil disobedience. The ex-premier is demanding an end to round-the-clock video surveillance and constant presence of male guards and to be allowed to make phone calls.
