On November 18, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba held a video conference with Brazilian Foreign Minister Ernesto Araujo.

"Pleased to speak with my Brazilian colleague @ernestofaraujo on how we can start a new chapter in our bilateral relations. Brazil remains our top trading partner in Latin America & we want to boost trade even more. Investment, education, culture & innovation on radar too," Kuleba tweeted on Thursday.

"Ukraine and Brazil have long-standing historical ties based on friendship and respect," Kuleba said, according to MFA's press service. "Today, Ukraine seeks to fully realize the many opportunities to intensify Ukrainian-Brazilian relations in the fields of trade, investment, education, culture and innovation."

Ukraine is particularly interested in increasing bilateral trade: "Brazil remains Ukraine's largest trading partner in South America. At the same time, the range of exports and imports can be significantly expanded."

The two ministers noted the importance of the Brazilian president's visit to Ukraine next year and agreed on active cooperation toward the meaningful preparation.

The parties separately touched upon the fight against misinformation. Kuleba has spoken of President Volodymyr Zelensky's initiative to open in Kyiv the headquarters of an international office, which will deal with countering disinformation and fake news.

Ukraine's top diplomat on a separate note emphasized the invaluable contribution of the Ukrainian community in Brazil to the development of Ukrainian-Brazilian relations.

The interlocutors agreed to hold next year a series of events to mark the 130th anniversary of Ukrainian immigration to Brazil.
