The secretary-general has also called on Russia to ensure in Crimea availability of education in Ukrainian and transfers of local residents, including detainees, outside the occupied territory.
The United Nations has called on the Russian Federation to cease practices of conscription to the Russian army of residents in the occupied Crimea, Ukraine's Permanent Mission to the UN reports.
"Russian authorities in Crimea need to ensure the availability of education in the Ukrainian language, end the conscription into Russia's armed forces, restore property rights of all former owners deprived of their titles owing to 'nationalization' and confiscations, and end the transfers of local residents, including detainees, outside the occupied territory," Ukrainian diplomats tweeted, referring to the UN Secretary General's report on the situation of human rights in Crimea.

"The Russian authorities are also urged to ensure that freedoms of opinion and expression and the right to freedoms of peaceful assembly, association, thought, conscience and religion can be exercised by any individual and group in Crimea, without discrimination on any grounds or unjustified regulatory barriers," the report says.
The UN secretary-general has called on Russia to "lift restrictions imposed on the Crimean Tatar community to conserve its representative institutions, including the ban on the Mejlis."
