Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has instructed the Ministry of Finance to increase the funding of the armed forces next year to 3% of GDP, a defense ministry spokesman said on Tuesday.
At the moment, the financing of the army is 1.02% of GDP, Ministry of Defense spokesman Viacheslav Salakhov said.
"The recent presidential decree relates to the Ministry of Finance, and is on providing funding for the armed forces for the next year [at the level of] 3% of GDP," Salakhov said.
