The recent withdrawal of regular units of the Russian armed forces from Ukraine could be due to rebellion or discontent among Russian soldiers, as they may realize their being in Ukraine is illegal, Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council has said.
The claim was made by the spokesman of the NSDC’s Information and Analytical Center, Andriy Lysenko at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.
"We understand that there is a movement initiated by mothers in Russia and those who oppose the invasion by Russian troops of the territory of Ukraine," Lysenko said.
“There is some kind of rebellion or a wave of discontent, and a decision was made about a change, or rotation. We’re not talking about a planned rotation."
