Russia is continuing to send heavy weapons into the areas of Ukraine that have been seized by armed gangs of militants, in violation of the Minsk agreements on ending the Donbas conflict, according to a Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman.
"According to the information of our law enforcement agencies, Russia is continuing to deliver heavy weapons to terrorist organizations in the Donetsk and Luhansk Peoples’ Republics," ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.
He said that from November 17-23, two columns with weapons were spotted: one moving in the direction of Metalist-Shastye (six units of military hardware), the other in the direction of Stanichno- Luhanska (16 units).
In addition, Perebyinis noted the deployment of a brigade of 500 fighters near the village of Vuhlegirsk, and that of 300 Russian marines from the village of Telmanove to Novoazovsk, Samsonove, Bezimiane and Shyrokyne.
Russian heavy weapons and troops continue to gather close to the Ukrainian border, and a rotation of Russian army units in Rostov region is currently under way. On November 23, a column of 10 of the militants’ tanks was spotted heading through Shakhtersk to Donetsk, according to Perebyinis.
